On Angel's Wings - Programs & Services
These programs will, in all cases, conform to the Divisions Policies and
Procedures, Statutes, Rules, and Scope of Work. Additionally, we have
standards above and beyond those of the Division.
Learn more about our programs:
Day Treatment and Training
- Includes
adult day treatment and children's after school/summer program. On
Angel's Wings (OAW) Adult/Child Day Programs present an environment of
positive and enriching activities both in-house and in the community.
These activities are designed to collaborate with each individual's
needs, wants, likes, and dislikes. With that in mind, our program will
never cease its efforts to adapt to the needs of each individual.
Upon entering our program, each person will partake in the planning
process, and our staff will always look for ways to modify and add to
our program to meet the individual's needs and desires. For example,
should someone have an interest in art, we will add something to the
daily routine to fit that desire.
Cooking: On occasion, we will hold cooking classes. Meals or
special cooking sessions will be held on holidays as planned. These may
be full meals or something as simple as baking cookies. Whatever the
task, it will be according to each individual and each will have the
opportunity to direct.
Adaptive fun: We provide computer software and hardware
that permits the use of games, programs, word processors, etc. We will
make every attempt to assist any level of skill to partake in these
activities. Adaptive fun will also include all created activities in
art, building projects, crafts, and gardening.
Community activities: Our individuals will develop, with staff
input, community activities that will enhance the in-house programs. We
will put every effort into funding activities that are new, educational,
inspiring, and fun.
Charity: OAW will participate in charity events as
contributors, such as feed and clothe the homeless, donate to disaster
relief, or start a charity fund.
Volunteering: OAW members and staff may volunteer at
local charity organizations, helping the elderly at nursing homes, the
Humane Society, or adopt a highway.
Adaptive Daily Living: OAW will purchase adaptive items to assist
in teaching our members a variety of adaptive living skills. These may
include safety skills, cooking skills, dressing skills, communication
skills, hygiene skills, socialization skills, and behavior management
skills.
Group Homes: OAW
Group Home Programs present an environment of positive and enriching
activities both in-home and in the community. Habilitative training in
functional skills will be provided to assist the individual in meeting
personal, physical, and social needs. Training will be also provided in
routine household maintenance and independent living skills. Medical
services will be provided by each individual's physician with support
and assistance from On Angel's Wings staff.
Home & Community Based Services:
OAW
Home and Community Based Services does not recruit and hire staff to
"standby" for service requests. Rather, we take service requests from
families or caregivers who are willing to either recruit their own
provider or recommend a friend or family member to provide the service.
The provider must be recommended by the family or caregiver in writing.
This ensures that the family has a person who meets their approval prior
to service start and avoids the "revolving door" of providers. OAW may
recommend a current provider to a family or caregiver based on the
provider's length of employment and demonstration of skills
Supported Employment: OAW Supported Employment Program
presents an environment of education and instruction both onsite and in
a community -based employment setting. Pre-employment placement will be
initiated with the individual by conducting mock interviews, completing
mock applications, demonstrating various ways to locate employment (i.e.
want ads, internet, job magazines). Job development will start with the
individual by taking them to probable job locations and assisting them
through the hiring process. The job coach will provide on-going training
once the individual begins employment. The coaching will gradually be
faded out as the individual learns his/her task. Transportation will be
provided throughout the process.
